BR Gene

The Brazilian Genome Network (BRGENE- Rede Genoma Brasileiro) aims to increase genomics and bioinformatics research nationwide. It is also expected to generate human resources that are specialized in these fields and to establish collaboration projects that are multi-institutional.
Organisms sequenced by the network are Chromobacterium violaceum and Mycoplasma synoviae. Presently, the network is working towards the partial sequencing of the genome of Anopheles darlingi, which is the mosquito that transmits malaria in South America.
