Nosocomial infections associated with invasive medical devices, including pneumonia associated with ventilation (PAV), are among the leading causes of morbidity and mortality in hospitalized patients worldwide. S. aureus, especially Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), are absolute leaders in nosocomial infections. The main objective of this study is to generate and compare genomic sequences of variants of ST239 MRSA (isolated in Rio de Janeiro), differing in expression of biofilm and quorum-sensing agr, aiming to identify potential proteins that modulate the biological film.
